Dr. Subramanian completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the Baylor College of Medicine, here in Houston, traveling on to pursue a fellowship in Spine Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. He has since been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Subramanian’s research spans various areas of spine pathology. He has received awards for his projects, has had his work published in respected peer reviewed journals, and remains active in both national and international spine societies.
Dr. Subramanian has a conservative approach to the management of spinal disorders and educates his patients about their condition. In those cases requiring surgical treatment, Dr. Subramanian determines if Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) is an option. Coupled with microscopic techniques and optional robotic technology, MISS allows for a much shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to work and activities. Many of these procedures can now be performed on an outpatient basis.
Dr. Subramanian is Head Chair of Orthopedics at St. Joseph Medical Center in downtown Houston, and is on staff at The Methodist Hospital (Texas Medical Center), Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital, Humble Surgical Hospital and Kingwood Medical Center.
